About Me
Jonathan Hetterly, M.A., LCMHC
I’ve always known I wanted to help others. There is something noble about a life of service.
I didn’t always know I wanted to be a therapist. I’ve been working since the day someone was willing to hire me as a kid. I started out in family and youth ministry. Then I went back to school and first completed a masters in Leadership. I thought I could help others out by being the CEO of a non-profit organization. But I soon realized that I didn’t want to be leading board meetings or fundraising initiatives. I was meant to sit one-on-one with a person and listen. I am at my best connecting on a one-on-one, interpersonal level.
I’d like to think that my credentials provide me with the tools to help a person’s mental and emotional wellbeing. But I’d like to think my own personal life and adversity I have faced helps me connect and empathize with folks and their stories.
I am a child of adoption. I am a child of divorce. I am a husband and father to two teenage daughters. I’ve been a teenager and now I’m also an experienced parent of teens – neither is easy to navigate.
Key concepts I utilize in therapy:
